已灭绝的北美印第安民族，操苏语族奇维雷语支(Chiwere branch)语言(包括奥托语〔Oto〕及爱荷华语)。密苏里人过去同爱荷华人及奥托人一起，自温内巴戈人(Winnebago)中分出，向西南迁移。密苏里人定居于格兰德河河口，奥托人则沿密苏里河继续迁徙。1673年马凯特(Jacques Marquette)与若利埃(Louis Jolliet)曾在密苏里河畔遇到密苏里人。1798年密苏里人与索克人(Sauk)、福克斯人(Fox)作战，失败後，残馀人员四散，与奥萨格人(Osage)、坎萨人(Kansa)及奥托人生活在一起。1805年前，有些密苏里人重新聚集，但又为奥萨格人所败，最後散处于奥托人及爱荷华人中间。 (责任编辑：) |
