Pastor AVERIL EMIL ROYAL SR. was the son and one of five children born to Rev. Sinclair James Oliver Royal Sr. and Mrs. Latona Elliot Mae (Thomas) Royal.

He was the husband of Mrs. Helene Denise (Kimbrough) Royal.

"Pastor A.E. Royal Sr. was born on September 3, 1956 in Kansas City, Kansas, and he passed away peacefully on April 27, 2008. His father, Rev. Sinclair J.O. Royal Sr., preceded him in death. Pastor Royal received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy from Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. He was a graduate of Howard University Divinity School in Washington D.C. with a Master of Divinity Degree in 1984. In 1996, Pastor Royal founded and established Emmanuel Fellowship Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, where he currently served as Senior Pastor.

Survivors: wife, Helene Royal; his children, Anisa Elaine and Averil Jr.; his mother, Mrs. Latona Royal; his brothers, Pastor Sinclair Royal II (Sonya) of Dallas, Texas, Pastor Zachary W. Royal of Miami, Florida, Pastor Vinson Royal of Atlanta, Georgia and Pastor Artis McKinley Royal (Faith) of Memphis, Tennessee; one sister, Claudettee Royal of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation set from 12 noon - 6:45 p.m. Wake services starting at 7 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2008, Emmanuel Fellowship Baptist Church, 400 North Prairie Creek Road, Dallas, Texas 75217. Homegoing Celebration scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Antioch Fellowship Baptist Church, 7550 South Hampton Road, Dallas, Texas 75232.
