After maintaining over two years of timely payments and responsible account management with Credit One, I was extremely disappointed by the handling of a recent, honest mistake and the subsequent customer service experience.

While making a routine payment, I inadvertently selected an old, inactive bank account that was still saved in my profile. Shortly afterward, I received a call from Credit One notifying me that the payment had failed. I immediately corrected the error, used the correct active account, and successfully submitted the payment—well within the billing cycle and with no disruption to my history of on-time payments.

Despite promptly resolving the issue, Credit One proceeded to close my account entirely, citing the attempted use of an inactive bank account. Concerned by this disproportionate response, I called customer service to understand whether there was any way to rectify the situation. The representative escalated my case to a manager, who assured me that a request for reinstatement would be submitted given my clean payment record and history with the bank.

However, I later received a form letter stating that Credit One does not reinstate closed accounts under any circumstances—completely contradicting what I was told. This has left me with the impression that I was misled in order to end the call, with no real intention of supporting a loyal customer.

To cancel a long-standing account over a minor, easily-corrected error—especially one caused by selecting a previously saved bank account from your system—is not only excessive, but also undermines trust. Coupled with misleading customer service, this experience reflects poorly on your brand and your approach to client relationships.
