Anne Meara, an American actress, writer, and playwright, is a renowned figure in the American entertainment industry, known for her extensive and notable achievements in theater, film, and television. Anne Meara was born on September 20, 1929, in an Irish Catholic family. She was a native of Brooklyn. When she was 11 years old, her mother tragically took her own life, plunging the family into deep crisis. Anne herself required the help of a psychologist to cope with this shock.

In the early 1950s, Anne found her way onto the film set and began appearing in comedies. The wild 1950s and 1960s were the peak of her popularity.

In 1954, on one of the film sets, Anne Meara met her future husband, Jerry Stiller, and together they became known as the comedy duo Meara-Stiller. As a pair, they appeared in various comedies, mocking each other and satirizing human relationships. Even their differences in religious beliefs were a source of laughter in their famous "Hershey Horowitz/Mary Elizabeth Doyle" routine. Interestingly, Meara, who was an Irish Catholic, converted to Judaism for her marriage with Stiller.

They worked with many renowned directors and appeared on television shows such as "Ed Sullivan Show" and "Steve Allen Show." Additionally, Meara and Stiller actively performed on Broadway and wrote plays. In 1955, she was honored with an "Obie Award" for her contribution to playwriting.

Throughout the 1970s, Stiller and Anne Meara wrote and acted in numerous commercials for a German wine brand. Despite being no longer young, Meara continued to actively appear in films and television projects during the 70s and 80s. She starred in a significant number of movies and TV shows.

In 1986, Meara and her husband created their own comedy show, "The Stiller and Meara Show," in which Stiller played the mayor's assistant and Anne portrayed his wife. However, despite the involvement of the famous couple, the show did not achieve great success.

Even today, Meara continues to actively appear in various projects. Recently, she has been seen on screen in TV series such as "Law & Order," "Sex and the City," and "The King of Queens."

Anne Meara has two adult children, a daughter, and a son, who have followed in their parents' footsteps. Their son, Ben Stiller, is a well-established and recognized actor who also began his career with comedic roles.
