Christmas Tree Excel
Hi All,
I followed some online instructions to create a Christmas tree (I can't post links yet), however it's not working as intended. I hit F9 and nothing happens. It's supposed to change colors (based on the formula that selects random numbers).
Also, is it possible to get a star on top (like the icon in AI4, roughly)? Every time I move the tree down, it changes the formula and I don't know how to update it.

Re: Christmas Tree Excel
Change colors for me...
To move tree down use this in C1 (ROWS rather than ROW):
=IF(ABS(COLUMN($N1)-COLUMN())<=ROWS($C$1:$C1)-1,RANDBETWEEN(1,10),"")
Never use Merged Cells in Excel

Re: Christmas Tree Excel
Insert a new row 1 above the tree then amend your formula so where it says ROW()-1 it now says ROW()-2.
Not sure about the changing of colours as it works fine for me when I press F9.

Re: Christmas Tree Excel
Did your source explain that long formula? What does it differently than just RANDBETWEEN() on its own? As for your question, the colour change works for me (F9 or any event that triggers a recalculation).
I don't know how to get the star, though (or at least not with the colours).
EDIT: I thought the OP wanted the top most ball to be star instead of a ball and not just a static star image(?)
Serious question, though, what's that long a** formula for?
2nd EDIT: Ahhh, I see! The formula is everywhere, not just in the cells of the tree shape, my bad.

Re: Christmas Tree Excel
Huh, so zbor's formula works and I can move it down.
That said, I hit F9 and nothing happens...
