Although the bill is not likely to be legalized this year, the fact itself that the Georgia officials will pay attention to the expansion of the gambling sector means that sooner or later the state might eventually have its gambling industry diversified.

Actually, proponents of the casino establishment are hopeful that the constitutional amendment will be on the ballot supposed to take place in November next yearand voters will be enabled to either support or reject the casino legislation bill.

People with knowledge on the matter said that according to them, the expansion of the casino industry will boost the tourism sector and therefore, more funds for educational purposes will be raised.

If state officials are willing to give their consent to the casino expansion, Georgia residents will also have to support the ideafor casino establishment.

In case everything goes according to the plan, the state of Georgia will be divided into five gambling zonesand in order to be allowed to establish a casino in certain zone, investors will be supposed to meet the criteria of the Georgia Lottery Corp.

It is important to note that no more than six casinos will get officials’ approval and investors will be required to convince Georgia regulators that they are reliable enough to establish luxurious and profitable casino resorts.

For that purpose, they will be asked to make an investmentof at least $1 billion for a casino in Atlanta and as much as $200 million in case they want to establish a casino resort in one of the other gambling zones.

Actually, the state of Georgia has previously made attempts for establishing a casino but the latest project was brought to a standstill. State Lottery Board members and the Governor are not among the proponents of the gambling expansion, either.

This time, proponents of the casino expansion hope the bill will be supported by the majority of Georgia residents. What is more, a recently conducted poll shows that as much as 60% of all residents are likely to give their positive voteto the expansion, provided that the revenue generated is set aside for the HOPE scholarship.
