Dates & Deadlines for Transfer Applicants

Following are the dates and deadlines for transfer students applying for spring/fall 2026 admission.

Spring 2026 Admission

Application Filing Period: September 1 – October 15

Supporting Materials Deadline: October 20

Decision Notification: by November 15

We encourage you to start preparing early. You must submit your application by 11:59 p.m. CDT on October 15, including the required essay(s), which you can begin drafting now to stay ahead.

Make sure we receive all required supporting materials by October 20, including an application fee or , transcripts, and English proficiency scores (if applicable).

Not all programs are open to spring applicants. Check our to see which programs are available.

Please note that there is no priority filing period for spring applicants.

Fall 2026 Admission Application Opens: January 15

We encourage you to start preparing early so you're ready to apply as soon as the application opens on January 15.

You must submit your application by 11:59 p.m. CDT on February 1 to meet the priority deadline. This includes the application essay(s), which you can begin drafting now so you are ready to submit your application by the priority deadline.

Priority Materials Deadline: As long as your application was submitted by 11:59 p.m. CDT on February 1, all supporting materials, including an application fee or , transcripts, and English proficiency scores (if applicable) must arrive to our office by February 15.

Meeting the priority deadline means you will receive an earlier decision, but does not provide priority consideration for admission to selected major(s). We encourage students to meet the priority deadline to stay on track and ensure timely review.

You must submit your application by 11:59 p.m. CDT on April 1 to meet the final deadline for fall transfer admission.

Final Materials Deadline: As long as your application was submitted by 11:59 p.m. CDT on April 1, all supporting materials, including an application fee or , transcripts, and English proficiency scores (if applicable) must arrive to our office by April 5.

Priority Decision Notification: by April 15

Regular Decision Notification: by June 1

Our online programs will consider applications for fall admission through July 15. To apply to one of these programs after April 1, please submit a petition through myIllini.

Note that students don't apply directly for our summer term. If you're interested in taking summer courses at Illinois, you may apply for fall and request a term change if you're admitted and accept your offer.
