An emotional Angelica Yulo appeared before the media on Wednesday, Aug. 7, and asked his son, Paris Olympics double gold winner Carlos Yulo, for forgiveness amid the feud that has already caught international attention.

Angelica, in a two-page letter she addressed during a press conference at a hotel in Manila, said they should mend things accordingly and privately and that their doors will remain open for the Olympic champion if he chooses to solve the issue and start things over again.

“Ako po ay narito para ipahayag ang aking huling pananalita, hinggil sa girian namin sa aming pamilya, at nang panig ng anak ko kasama ang kanyang [girlfriend] na si Ms. Chloe San Jose,” said Angelica.

“Matanda ka na, kaya mo nang magdesisyon para sa sarili mo. Bukas ang aming pintuan sa tahanan, may pera o wala, kung nanaisin mong bumalik sa amin,” she continued.

Angelica said she is just doing her job as a mother, and all she wished for is his son's success.

"Kung mali na naging mapagpuna ako sa nobya mo, humihingi ako ng patawad, dahil nanay lang ako na nag-aalala," she said.

The tension between Carlos and Angelica rose to prominence in the height of the former's victory in the Paris Games.

Chloe San Jose was one figure that also got into the picture being Carlos' girlfriend. The two appeared together in a Tiktok video that has gone viral and contained the gymnast's own clarifications on issues that surfaced in the aftermath of an interview at the family's residence in Leveriza, Manila.

"Humihingi ako ng tawad sayo at sa mga sambahayan na nakapanood ng interbyu," she said.

Angelica asked the Filipinos to set aside the differences between her and Carlos, and instead celebrate the latter's achievement.

“At sa sambayanan, sana ay ipagdiwang na lang natin ang tagumpay ng anak ko. Gumawa ang anak ko ng kasaysayan para sa ating bansa. Lahat tayo ay magpasalamat kay Caloy para sa karangalang uuwiin para sa bayan,” said Angelica.
